Upon completion of this Course, learners should be able to:
Unit 1: Industrial Relations in Trinidad and Tobago
The aim of this unit is to provide an overview of the history of industrial relations, as well as the practices and procedures which inform the system of industrial relations in Trinidad and Tobago, while embarking on a holistic appreciation of the sources of good industrial relations.
Unit 2: Collective Bargaining
Explore the essential criteria being utilised by stakeholders in conducting negotiations, and develop an appreciation for the sensitivities associated with Collective Bargaining.
Unit 3: Grievance Handling and Discipline
Analyse and apply the principles essential for successfully dealing with grievances and disciplinary issues in the workplace.
Unit 4: Trade Unions and Worker Participation in the Organisation
The aim of this unit is to provide an overview of the history of the Trade Union movement in Trinidad and Tobago as well as the functions, roles and responsibilities of Trade Unions specific to the workplace and develop a keen understanding and appreciation of techniques for creating a cohesive workplace environment through worker participation and engagement in relation to industrial relations.
This Course will be evaluated through a combination of written and practical assessments, class/course participation, attendance, and a final exam.
