JOB PURPOSE

To maintain continuity in the ECA’s priority communications, member information services and routine research support during a period of organisational transition, thereby supporting the Association’s visibility, responsiveness and delivery of timely services to members, clients and other stakeholders.

 

JOB SUMMARY/SCOPE

The incumbent provides operational support across the ECA’s communications, public relations and routine research activities. The role supports the timely delivery of public and member-facing content, coordinates routine research and information-based activities, and assists the CEO or other departments with approved correspondences, promotional material and organisational initiatives.

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Graphic Design and Public Relations

  • Conceptualise, prepare, and/or design any promotional material required for advertisements, flyers, social media, website and other publications, campaigns or projects of the ECA & its subsidiary 

  • Coordinate the delivery of all approved advertising material or campaigns, as directed, and liaise with advertisers, in consultation with the designated Supervisor

  • Assist with the preparation of articles, press releases, letters, speeches, and presentations for the media and other public or special engagements

  • Maintain, update, or create approved content for the organisation’s website and social media pages

 

Research and Publications

  • Receive all external research requests and liaise with the requesting party, as needed, to establish deliverables or other project needs

  • Assist with the conduct of external research activities, including contacting and following up with participants, disseminating survey instruments, or preparing analysis documents using prescribed templates

  • Receive and fulfil all Library-related orders for publications, judgments or collective agreements

  • Prepare the weekly membership newsletter collating local, regional and international news headlines in industrial relations, labour/employment law and other developments in the world of work.

  • Prepare one (1) report on Industrial Court Judgments delivered during a specified quarter, using the prescribed template, noting the thematic areas, key issues and outcomes

 

Communications

  • Support the CEO in preparing or responding to official correspondences from external stakeholders

  • Assist other departments in the promotion and execution of planned organisational events

 

Administrative

  • Maintain a proper system for filing, copying, archiving, and retrieving documents and other records

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Requirements
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant qualifications and practical experience
    • Demonstrated experience in graphic design and content preparation using software or applications such as CorelDRAW, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Canva or other desktop publishing and design tools
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Assets
    • Post Graduate qualifications in a related field
    • Previous experience in a communications, public relations, marketing or research environment
    • Experience managing or developing content for websites, social media platforms and digital marketing campaigns
    • Experience supporting survey administration, research projects, data collection or the preparation of research reports
    • Familiarity with labour market, industrial relations, employment law or public policy issues

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Planning and Prioritisation: Ability to organise competing assignments, establish priorities and complete work within prescribed deadlines.
  • Communication and Writing: Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate and professional correspondences or content
  • Editing and Proofreading: Ability to review written and visual content for accuracy, clarity, grammar, consistency and suitability for the intended audience
  • Digital Communications: Working knowledge of website content management, social media platforms, e-marketing and other digital communication channels
  • Analytical Ability and Attention to Detail: Ability to interpret information, identify relevant issues and produce accurate work while maintaining close attention to detail
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Service: Ability to work effectively with colleagues, members, clients, service providers and external stakeholders, while demonstrating professionalism, responsiveness and strong interpersonal skills
  • Technical Comprehension: Ability to understand specialised information relating to labour, industrial relations, employment law and public policy and communicate such information accurately and accessibly
